There is a big impact from social networking sites and media on all types of business. The majority of effects are good ones, because they have helped plenty of companies gain places in the market place. I don't think these technologies are a "fad" and I also think they have a substantive and meaningful change on business in the future. I think we all can agree with the effects of some effects of social networking, just look at the effect wether negative/positive on the business you work for.
